German industry plays a key role in the United States: As importers, investors, and employers, German companies shape the U.S. economy. Education and training of workers are of particular importance to companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Almost 4,800 companies in the United States benefit from German investment; most of these are affiliates of small- and medium-sized enterprises.
